I went to an eccentric concert.
I was really looking forward to Hojo-san’s concert today. Ever since Hojo-san told Mai at the picnic that it’s better to buy larger cup of FAGE, Mai has been buying it that way. She is a crazy yogurt eater to me.
Her vocal sound performance had perfectly struck my heart. She said it was made from research on Yoko Ono’s screaming. I had no idea it would come soooo coooool. It was not screaming. It was… a sort of whispering or breathing… but screaming silently at the same time… I couldn’t explain it well. So I hope you to experience it!
In this concert, I also got listen Ikue Mori’s improvisation…! And Keiko Uenishi’s sound performance, a film of Yoko Ono’s performance in 60′ and Takako Saito’s interview. These were also very wonderful experiences.
Hojo-san, thank you for curation that concert “Concert of Japanese Women Experimental Sound Artists” and great your new work. Now I knew she is not only crazy yogurt eater.
