For my English practice, I challenge you to explain the difference between POP and IMAP here now.
First of all, your mail server is in the cloud. The mail is not delivered to your computer, but to a computer somewhere else in this world. Mysterious. You can call that computer a mail server for now.
So, you need to hire the agent, like an agent Smith in Matrix. He will go back and forth between your computer and a mail server.
POP Smith is relaxed. He only work one time for one task. He will pick up the mail and bring it to you when he find new mail. So, mail server will be keep it clean, as empty. That’s all, so simple.
IMAP Smith is desperate. He is always checking what is contained in your computer and a mail server. As new mail arrives, he transcribe it and deliver it to your computer. When you make a draft in your mailbox, he will make a copy of it in a mail server. IMAP Smith keep a mail server to keep original messages. He is swamped with work all the time. Feeling like Matrix trilogy.
If you want to access the same mail server from multiple devices, or multiple members, it’s better to hire the IMAP Smith. Feeling like Matrix trilogy.
